Voice Control Using Amazon Alexa - Voice Commands

Modified on Mon, 8 May, 2023 at 4:47 PM

After you have successfully linked your Amazon Alexa-enabled device (sold separately) with your UltraQ (Refer to the Voice Control Initial Setup ), you can start using voice commands, allowing you to monitor and control your device with just the sound of your voice.

Alexa expects commands spoken in a specific way. Often she can interpret variations, but we recommend using the commands as listed below. For the food names and specific temperatures and timer settings, you should substitute with your own settings.

  1. Alexa, Ask BBQ Guru, what is the pit temperature?
  2. Alexa, Ask BBQ Guru, what is the food 1 temperature?
  3. Alexa, Ask BBQ Guru, what is the food 2 temperature?
  4. Alexa, Ask BBQ Guru, what is the food 3 temperature?
  5. Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, set food 1 target temperature to 100.
  6. Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, set food 2 target temperature to 130.
  7. Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, set food 3 target temperature to 150.
  8. Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, set food 1 name to sausage.
  9. Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, set food 2 name to brisket.
  10. Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, set food 3 name to hamburgers.
  11. Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, set timer to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  12. Alexa, Ask BBQ Guru, how much time is left on the timer?

Multiple Devices: Amazon Alexa voice control will control the default UltraQ. For our customers who own more than one UltraQ, we have added the ability to change the default device in your account with the sound of your voice. This way you can switch between your device and control each one with your voice. To switch your default device say: "Alexa, Tell BBQ Guru, Switch Default UltraQ."

Alexa will then prompt you with the names of the different devices with a number for each one. You then should respond with the number for the device you want as your new default. Once successfully changed, your voice commands will now use your new default device.
