What is the Ramp feature?

Modified on Tue, 17 Dec at 1:59 PM

Ramp Mode is a feature that helps you prevent your food from overcooking. You will set your desired cooking temperature as normal. If your BBQ Guru control has more than 1 food probe, you’ll need to choose which meat that you want to use to Ramp down. We recommend that you choose the smallest meat out of what you are cooking since it will most likely cook the fastest.

Once your food is 30°F away from being finished, the control will slowly “ramp down” the cooking temperature to help prevent your food from going above your set done temperature. Please note that when Ramp Mode is on, cooking time will increase.

Note that the pit temperature will always hold slightly above your food temperature, even if your food is at or close to the done temperature. This is due to natural evaporative heat loss that happens to the meat, so if your cooking temperature were to drop as low as your desired food done temperature, your food temperature would decrease.
